Beggars Labels won five awards at this year’s A2IM Libera Awards Awards held on June 21st in New York City. Each of the five labels under the Beggars umbrella took home an award, and represent a very diverse and unique group of alternative artists and genres.

4AD received the award for Best Rock Album, presented for The National’s stellar and Grammy Award winning seventh album Sleep Well Beast.

Matador Records’ Perfume Genius won the Best Video award for the song “Die 4 You”, directed by the amazing Floria Sigismondi.

Rough Trade artist Princess Nokia was honored with the “Breakthrough Artist” award for her album 1992 Deluxe.

XL Recordings artist Ibeyi was awarded “Best World Album” for their second album Ash.

Young Turks’ Kamasi Washington was awarded “Best Jazz Album” for his Harmony Of Difference EP.

The individual diversity and unique qualities of these artists and the wide-ranging musical styles that they all represent, is a testament to what makes the Beggars Group operate so well, and the staff’s ability to work across alternative genres, continually coming up with interesting, challenging and entertaining ways to promote the artists.

“It’s always nice to feel acknowledged for your hard work and accomplishments. However, once a year, the Libera Awards provide something even more valuable which is the overwhelming feeling of mutual support from the entire independent music community. It’s a rare opportunity to collectively celebrate with our peers what we and our artists are doing every day.” MATT HARMON

“The Libera’s, and Indie Week as a whole, represented a joyous celebration of the community of music and independence, and reaches a gratifying higher level each year. The night was exceptional for the quality and diversity of the performers, nominees and winners, and the fact that each of the five Beggars labels came home with an award was the icing on the cake.”MARTIN MILLS
