HIRING: Beggars Senior Manager Human Resources - NYC 8 February 2019

Position Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager Human Resources will report to the President of Beggars Group USA, and work closely with the U.S. Head of Finance. The Senior Manager HR will be the sole HR point of contact for a population of 55 people in New York and California, will architect HR practices, and provide hands-on service in the areas of recruitment, benefits, employment compliance, employee relations and employee development.

Specific Responsibilities
HR Leadership:
• Develop and overall strategy for human resources management and deliver services that benefit
employees and the company as a whole.
• Become a trusted, approachable colleague for people at all levels of the organization.

Employment Compliance:
• Keep the President and Head of Finance aware of upcoming employment laws and trends, and ensure
policy and handbook updates meet or exceed requirements. Keep the company current with all relevent
federal, New York and California employment compliance.
• Maintain proper personnel files.
• Manage and resolve any employee relations or workers compensation matters that might arise.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Manage employee benefits, working closely with the President and the Head of Finance on selection of
plans, lead the open enrollment process, and provide support to employees as they navigate benefit
offerings.
• Coordinate with the Head Finance to invoice and reconcile self-funded health plan, discrimination testing
on 401K and other aspects of HR with a financial impact.
• Administer paid time off, leaves of absence and other benefits, and ensure compliant treatment of time
sheets and overtime for non-exempt staff.
• Provide compensation analysis and job pricing to maintain pay policies that are fair and competitive and
aligned with the company’s budget.
• Partner with finance on managing payroll.

HRIS & Vendor Management:
• Under the direction of the President, take a lead role in managing HR related vendors.
• Make appropriate HR technology recommendations appropriate for a business of Beggars’ size and
growth rate.

Talent Management:
• Provide full service recruiting to fill any openings that arise or new roles that are created.
• Lead new hire onboarding and employee orientation programs.
• Facilitate core training such as anti-harassment training and first-time manager training.
• Be available to managers and employees for guidance and coaching.
• Develop and facilitate the annual performance review process, providing process and guidance to
managers and employees to ensure effective goal setting and feedback in alignment with the business
culture and strategy.

Culture:
• Coordinate with colleagues in the UK where there is benefit to global consistency in HR practices.
• Be an ambassador of the company’s values, and a steward of an environment where employees are
encouraged and enabled to develop their skills, encouraged to bring their passion for music to work, are
treated fairly and reasonably, and provided greater opportunities and greater challenges.

Qualifications
• Degree in business, psychology, human resources or relevent field of study preferred.
• Active PHR, SPHR or SHRM certification.
• Knowledge of and passion for the diverse roster at Beggars Group across all our labels and genres, with a
keen understanding of the competitive landscape a plus.
• Expert with at least 4 to 8 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist or HR Business Partner in
a creative industry, serving an employee population of 50 to 200 employees.
• Direct hands-on experience with recruiting, training, benefits, HR compliance and employee relations.
• Confident vendor management skills.
• Approachable relationship builder.
• Effective judgement about proper handling of confidential information.
• High integrity, work ethic and communication skills.
• Well-rounded modern thinker with a nimble, hands-on, indie mind-set.
