The Great River Race 2010

Two teams of rowers from the Beggars Group are returning to the waters on Saturday, September 25th to take part in this year’s Great River Race in London.

Taking place over a gruelling 21 mile course on Thames from Docklands in the East of the capital to Ham in the West; last year’s team helped to raise over £11,000 for The Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, a Vietnamese charity who help the country’s most underprivileged children to escape poverty.

This year, the team aim to surpass this figure on behalf of The Honeypot Charity, a London-based organisation who work to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers, by providing respite breaks at their own Honeypot House in the New Forest and on-going outreach support programs.

For this year’s race, Beggars Group, have set a fundraising target of £50,000, and are entering two boats and promising to match every donation they receive pound for pound. Furthermore, anyone donating over £100 will have the opportunity to attend the Annual Beggars Garden Party for food, drinks and entertainment in Ham, Richmond after the race ends.
